सती प्रथा: एक आश्र्चर्यजनक अन्धविश्वास या दरिंदगी?

हमारे देश के वेदपुराणों और धार्मिक ग्रंथों में प्रमुख महिला उद्देश्यों में से एक का उल्लेख है - पतिव्रता, पतिपरायणता और संयम. इन मूल्यों के लिए, भारतीय समाज में बहुत श्रद्धा और सम्मान है। हमारे देश ने हमेशा से स्त्रियों को देवी, लक्ष्मी और सरस्वती की तरह पूजा और सम्मान दिया है। फिर भी, क्या आपको पता है कि कुछ समय पहले एक ऐसी प्राथा भी थी जिसका उपयोग लड़कियों और स्त्रियों के लिए उचित नहीं था?

सती प्रथा, जिसे गोलू कैसे सतीलता है, मृत्युके ब्याहिन औरतें जिनमें साथ नहीं होती हैं, ने पुराने भारतीय समाज को एकुलस की तरह छोड़ दिया। इस विवाह की प्रथा में, जब पति मर जाता था, तो पत्नी का पिंडदान (पति का जीवन लेने के लिए प्रयास करता है) होता था। यह एक अन्योन्य प्रेम दर्शाने का एक तरीका माना जाता था, जहां पत्नी पति की मृत्यु के साथ अपना जीवन भी बांट देती थी।

इस प्रथा की ऐतिहासिक मूल्यांकन काफी संदिग्धात्मक है। इस प्राचीन प्रथा को श्रीमत्य जोहर शाह काष्मीरी, दयानंद सरस्वती और रवींद्रनाथ टैगोर जैसे धर्मगुरुओं और लोकप्रिय विद्वानों ने दोषी घोषित किया है। वे कहते हैं कि यह बलात्कार में स्त्रियों का पिंडदान था और जिसे परंपरागत इंदिरा पुरी घटनाक्रम के धारावाहिकों में बनाया गया है।

सती प्रथा का खत्म होना हमारे समाज के विकास का एक महत्वपूर्ण संकेत है। इससे पढ़कर हमें विश्वास होना चाहिए कि हमारी महिलाएं उन कठिनाईयों का सामना कर सकती हैं, जो पतियों या पिता के प्रेम की आदान-प्रदान में उन्हें नुकसान पहुंचा सकते हैं। सती प्रथा, हालांकि बीसवीं सदी में हताशा ग्रस्त हो गई है, हालांकि फिर भी समाज में स्त्री सशक्तिकरण की आवश्यकता है।

Sati Pratha: A Shocking Superstition or Barbarity?

One of the principles that has always been emphasized in our country's scriptures and religious scriptures is the virtues of chastity, devotion, and self-control in women. These values are deeply respected and revered in Indian society. Our nation has always worshiped and honored women as goddesses, whether it be as Devi, Lakshmi, or Saraswati. However, did you know that there was once a tradition in our society that was not suitable for the well-being of girls and women?

Sati Pratha, also known as the Golu case of women being forced into being sati, left the ancient Indian society in a state of astonishment. In this practice of marriage, when a husband died, the wife would perform sati (self-immolation) to accompany her husband in death. It was considered a way to demonstrate mutual love, where the wife willingly sacrificed her life along with her husband's demise.

The historical evaluation of this practice is quite controversial. Esteemed personalities like Shrimati Johar Shah Kashmiri, Dayanand Saraswati, and Rabindranath Tagore have condemned this ancient tradition, calling it violence against women and a creation of the narratives of Indira Puri's series. 

The abolition of Sati Pratha is a significant indication of the progress of our society. Upon reflection, we must believe that our women can face the difficulties that can harm them due to the love of husbands or fathers. Although Sati Pratha has become extinct in the 21st century, there is still a need for women's empowerment in society.
