अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष स्थान अभियान (International Space Station) विज्ञान, तकनीक और अंतरिक्ष शोध के क्षेत्र में विश्व समुदाय के मंच के रूप में मान्यता प्राप्त कर चुका है। यह मानवीय निर्मित उपग्रह है जो पृथ्वी के स्थिर माध्यम में 408 किलोमीटर (254 मील) ऊपर ओरबिट करता है। यह अंतरिक्ष में लंबे समय तक रहने की क्षमता रखने के लिए निर्मित हुआ है और इसका उद्घाटन 20 नवम्बर 1998 को हुआ था। 

अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष स्थान अभियान का प्रमुख मकसद विज्ञान और अंतरिक्ष शोध की बढ़ती हुई जिज्ञासा को प्रोत्साहित करना है। इसमें विभिन्न देशों के अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी भाग लेती हैं, जिनमें NASA (अमेरिका), Roscosmos (रूस), ESA (यूरोपीय अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी), JAXA (जापानी अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी) और CSA (कनेडियन अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी) शामिल हैं। इन संगठनों के वैज्ञानिकों और अंतरिक्ष यात्रियों के लिए यह अंतरराष्ट्रीय लेबोरेटरी की भूमिका निभाता है, जहां वे भौतिकी, रसायन शास्त्र, जैविक विज्ञान, उच्च ऊर्जा शास्त्र, उपग्रह तकनीकी और मानव आयाम के क्षेत्र में अन्वेषण करते हैं। 

अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष स्थान अनुसंधान में दो वहनों का प्रयोग होता है - रूसी Soyuz एवं अमेरिकी SpaceX Dragon। इसके अलावा, यह स्थायी और एक्सपीडीशन बैठकों के लिए घर की भूमिका निभाता है और अंतरिक्ष में प्रयोग और जांच कार्यों का नेतृत्व करता है।

यह उपग्रह छोटे समयांतर में खोज और प्रवेश के लिए विशेष अवसर प्रदान करता है। अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष स्थान अभियान को एमआईएस (अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष स्थान अभियान, ISS) भी कहा जाता है।

इस मिशन के दौरान अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष स्थान अभियान में बहुत सारी अनूदित ऊर्जा का योगदान दिया गया है, जिसके बदले में वैज्ञानिक जोड़ सकते हैं। यहां वैज्ञानिकों के लिए किरोसीन, नीचे बमे तेल और सौर ऊर्जा के इस्तेमाल की कोई चिंता नहीं होती है, जो इसके लिए एक स्थायी ऊर्जा स्रोत के रूप में काम करती है। 

भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन (ISRO) भी इस मिशन में अपना योगदान देता है और अपने वैज्ञानिकों को ISS के माध्यम से अंतरराष्ट्रीय सहयोग में शामिल किया है। इसके अलावा, अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष स्थान अभियान यात्रियों को भूमि से देखने का एक अद्वितीय दृश्य प्रदान करता है और अंतरिक्ष के महकते फूल और बुद्धिमान तारों का अनुभव कराता है।

It was designed to have a long-duration habitation capability and was inaugurated on November 20, 1998.

The primary objective of the International Space Station is to encourage the growing curiosity in science and space research.
